US online rates by plan for standard cards: Basic 2.9% + 30¢, Grow 2.7% + 30¢, Advanced 2.5% + 30¢, Plus 2.25% + 30¢. Premium cards cost 0.6% to 0.7% more (Basic 3.5% + 30¢). Stores using another provider instead pay Shopify a third-party fee of 2% (Basic), 1% (Grow), 0.6% (Advanced) or 0.2% (Plus).
Shopify Payments prohibits pseudo pharmaceuticals, defined as products that make health claims not verified by a local or national regulator. Its risk review flags subscription designs that trick customers into enrolling, listings that do not match what is delivered, and shipping timelines that miss promises, and Shopify says it can act before card network chargeback thresholds are reached. Shopify publishes a dropshipping guide for starting a store on its platform; its Shopify Payments rules do not mention dropshipping.
New merchants start with a longer settlement time that can shorten as orders are fulfilled on time.
Only works on Shopify stores. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and other accelerated checkouts run through it, and US stores add PayPal Wallet and Amazon Pay through Shopify Payments.
